Subject Description:
Live Sound Reinforcement is designed to give students a knowledge and understanding of the
science and techniques of amplifying sound and delivering it effectively to the ears of an audience.
Subject Hours: 132 clock hours (99 classroom hours, 33 lab hours)
Performance Objectives:
• AC and distribution systems
• Speakers and amps, mics, consoles, effects and crossovers
• Techniques for the live sound environment
• Motors and rigging
• Real applications-stage and monitors, wireless systems
• Basic live sound vocabulary, tech riders, behavior, stagehands
• Study of stadium, arena, and shed sound systems
• Study of small systems, lighting and video
Prerequisites: AUD101, AUD102, AUD201, AUD301

Week 3: Mics, Consoles, Effects
Week 4: Stage Applications (individuals)
Week 5: Stage Applications (Small Combos/Bands)
Week 6: Tech Riders, Vocabulary, Behavior and Stagehands
Week 7: Stage Applications (with minimal instructor assistance)
Week 8: Live Recording
Week 9: Lighting and Video
Week 10: Using Real-Time Analysis
Week 11: Review and Final Exams (written and hands on)
