Subject Description:
Business Communications is designed to help students effectively communicate in today's
entertainment industry workplace. They will understand how to design and create a professional
resume with a cover letter. They will also learn what their qualifications are, how to impress potential employers, how to research potential employers, as well as how to use popular tools to create
their own web site, blog, demo DVDs, CDs and business cards.
Subject Hours:
33 clock hours (11 hours lecture, 22 hours lab)
Performance Objectives:
Identify and create a professional resume, cover letter and business cards
Identify what will impress potential employers
Identify and understand how to read a job advertisement carefully
Name and describe what qualifications are expected for an open position
Explain why it is important to learn about companies before preparing a cover letter
Analyze and implement industry database listings to find potential employers
Construct a professional Demo CD/DVD
Construct a professional web site and/or blog
Prerequisites:
Must successfully complete: Recording Arts: AUD101, AUD201, AUD301, BOM101.
May be taken concurrently with AUD401.
Digital Film Video Arts: DFP101, DFP201. DFP301.
May be taken concurrently with DFP401
